Pace

This week has turned out to be an incredibly busy week. As it turns out, this being a pastor may end up being a full time job.

In this midst of all of this I have been thinking a lot about pace. In Psalm 46:10 it says, “Be still, and know that I am God” yet elsewhere in the scriptures the Christian life and ministry in particular is referred to as a “race” (Galatians 5:7, II Timothy 4:7 and Hebrews 12:1). So the question I have been asking is, how do these work together, or do they?

God has been teaching me that I can “be still” in the middle of a race. Here is what I mean, that I can make space for God and in the middle of activity, fighting the tendency of a flurry of activity to create a life of it’s own. For me this has meant “stealing moments” of being still. The by product has been this often elusive thing called Peace.
