God has been teaching me a lot about friendship lately. Often we relegate this topic to those who are navigating the junior high social structure, or to the preoccupation of people who are simply not that “deep.” The truth is that God has wired us for a sense of connectedness, for friendship. In fact one way to understand God’s heart for us is in Jesus statement, ” I call you friends.” (John 15:5)
A friend and mentor in ministry told me one of his greatest learnings is that it is not that important what you do, but with whom you are “doing life.” That is why my prayer today is for God’s provision of friends. Friends for my kids, my wife and myself as we embark on our journey to Washington state tomorrow. As I leave some great friends, I also look forward with great anticipation for the new friends I am going to get to serve Jesus with up in Washington.

Dear Ben and family,
We never got a chance to say good-bye in person, but we wish your family well.
You will be missed!
Sincerely,
Patty and Jose Castello
Ben, I Phileo you. That word is pretty much the closest thing that can define this volitional and brotherly type love.
I treasure our friendship and appreciate your Post-conventional outlook on life. you are an agent of grace, and you’ve inspired me to be the same.
God Bless,
Ammar Najjar.
