Strengths-Based Living

I came across a book this last week that is a sequel of sorts to one I read about 4 or 5 years back. The book is called Strengths Finder 2.0. Although written from a secular perspective, this is a great book to understand how God wired you and those around you; the book leads up to an online test found at http://www.strengthsfinder.com/.

This test is based on extensive, long-term research by the Gallup Organization. The book Now, Discover Your Strengths by Marcus Buckingham first introduced this test and some of its applications. The actual test that helps you evaluate your strengths is a 180-question, web-based assessment. This test helps you find your top five strengths among 34 themes listed in the assessment.

This test can help you in any relationship. For example, I had one teammate whose number one strength was Competition and his wife’s number one strength was Harmony. Can you see the potential problems? For them it answered a lot of questions in their marriage.

If you have any time, this is a quick read, an easy test and a great way to learn how to lean into your strengths.
